Date: 3-11 November 2012
Berlin, 11 November 2012 – There will always be money to buy gifts. That was the message of the 40,000 visitors at the fifty-first Import Shop Berlin which came to an end on Sunday. More than 90 per cent of them took home purchases – quality handicrafts, fashion wear and accessoires, jewellery, musical instruments and Christmas gifts with a difference – spending an average of 141 euros in the process, the same as in 2011. The 600 exhibitors from 59 countries at the fair reported sales of around 5.8 million euros.
“With its outstanding show on the Silk Road and with Tajikistan, Thailand, Tunisia and Vietnam hosting national displays for the first time the Import Shop Berlin offered even greater diversity than last year”, is how Barbara Mabrook, the project manager of the Import Shop Berlin , summed up the fair. “The reactions from visitors were very positive. Due to the extended opening hours there was also more time for shopping. Exhibitors also benefited by being able to put higher-quality products and more complex articles on sale.“
More than 96 per cent of the visitors said they were satisfied with their visit and over 95 per cent said they would recommend it to others. 94 per cent declared their intention to visit the Import Shop again next year. 80 per cent of the visitors rated the products on offer as good or very good. All the main statistics of this year’s event were as positive as last year’s results.
